for me it was the 144,000 and the nature of christ's resurrection.
i seriously could not believe that there were two classes of christians when it was not stated implicitly in the bible, but was expected to be believed in as absolute truth.

How could these sad old men possibly be God's spokesmen? How could Jesus have annointed them in 1919 after reading all the rubbish they were bringing out?

Correct. It's just theology, man. If you are so keen to track back and examine history for ancient language and what certain wording means, why not open your mind to evaluate everything, and not just language? Wouldn't that make equal sense?
I do admire and appreciate your faith, and I have no problems with it. But I cringe sometimes to read comments that are as presumpteous as your 'like it or not' comment, seeing as though it's all based on theology in the first place.
Im not Athiest but fail to see the advantages of proclaiming your own version of truth over another.
i have been lurking for a few days and wanted to ask a question.
i stumbled on this website because i have an aquaintance who is a jw and i wanted to learn more about this religion.. first off, let me say that i am a christian.. my question is this: in reading a lot of posts, i see that many of you have left the religion because you believe the wbts has not been truthful in their interpretation of scriptures and because of their incorrect prophecies.
but it seems many of you still believe that they were correct in their belief that the trinity is totally a wrong teaching.

I've been lurking a lot before I joined, but I noticed something different. I noticed that only a few believe in the Watchtower's interpretation of the Deity of Christ, and only a few others believe in the Trinity. But I would say most here are non believers, although I haven't posted at all long enough to find out properly.
The Bible is open to so much interpretation... it's like a huge game of Chinese whispers. Things have changed so much thorugh time, I thought that Constantine adopted and encouraged the Trinity, although i'm no expert.
How can anybody be one hundred percent sure?

I appreciate and admire your faith, but nothing is definate in theology.
this is the first thread i have ever started (gulp) i hope i am doing this right!
i am going to see my brother and his family (the moonies) next week (they live in eastern germany) and i just became a bit anxious.
i spoke to my niece (she's 15) on the phone and she told me her uncle (on my brother's wife side, no one else in the family are moonies) has banned my brother from coming on his property.
And may I add that this guy who claims to even be 'god' actually pays off the government with millions of dollars so they do not stop him doing what he does!

when i was new witness in the late 70's i was assigned to young couples new home.
we were required to park our shoes inside the back door and proceed in our socks to the front room...fine.
the other piece to this was the couple hosting study had a big male blood hound dog of some kind.
